Gabe Guetta entered construction at 18 as a labourer on high-rise jobsites in Vancouver. Over the next 14 years, he worked his way into operations leadership at a window installation company and helped deliver more than 80 high-rise projects.
From the production side, he watched safety evolve into a compliance system built with good intentions—but too often disconnected from the work. Programs grew to hundreds of pages. Crews were buried in paperwork. Supervisors were pulled off the floor. Data was captured, filed, and rarely used.
A serious near-miss on one of Gabe’s sites made the gap impossible to ignore. The paper could show that a process existed; it could not make the right information useful at the moment of work. When Gabe could not find software field crews would genuinely use, he and CTO Rob Clifford co-founded SALUS to build it from the field up.
Gabe saw the same pattern across construction: disconnected work, people consumed by administration and paperwork, and jobsites producing mountains of data but very little intelligence. SALUS emerged from a vision for something fundamentally different.
