One of the big factors into our decision to move towards SALUS was finding a platform that was very usable for everyone in the company. We came from a software solution that was not necessarily the most user friendly at the worker level. So we really wanted something that was mobile focused. And we narrowed down a few options and SALUS really stood out. It’s a platform that works for everyone. From the president at the top of the company, to the managers and supervisors, down to the field worker level. We’ve seen a lot more field worker adoption since we implemented SALUS.
The other thing was rolling out digital submissions to our subcontractor base as well, which SALUS really stands out from some of the other providers, I think. So we’ve seen a lot of uptake from our subcontractor base in submitting documents on the site and forms using SALUS, and that saves our supervisors time from punching holes in paper and filing them in binders and sorting through everything.
The biggest factor, in my opinion, is it has to be usable for everyone in the company. Safety in general, it needs to be everyone on board. And if you want to really build a strong safety culture, everyone has a role to play. So, if the solution you’re using isn’t usable or easy to use at the end user level, you’re not going to get the adoption that you want. And if you don’t have the adoption, then the whole system is going to kind of fall apart, which is where we found ourselves with the previous solution that we were using. Comparatively I think we had maybe, 40 to 50 percent of our field workers actually using the system, and I would say we’re at about 80 percent with SALUS.
