- (5) The employer shall ensure that any person assigned to implement ergonomics-related prevention measures has the necessary instruction and training. SOR/2005-401, s. 2; SOR/2007-271, s. 5; SOR/2009-84, s. 3(F); SOR/2019-246, s. 146(F). ## Employee Training [SOR/2019-246, s. 147(E)] - 19.6 (1) The employer shall provide each employee with health and safety training, including training relating to ergonomics, which shall include the following: - (a) the hazard prevention program implemented in accordance with this Part to prevent hazards applicable to the employee, including the hazard identification and assessment methodology and the preventive measures taken by the employer; - (b) the nature of the work place and the hazards associated with it; - (c) the employee's duty to report under paragraphs 126 1 ( )(g) and (h) of the Act and under section 15.3 ; and - (d) an overview of the Act and these Regulations. - (2) The employer shall provide training to an employee - (a) whenever new hazard information in respect of a hazard in the work place becomes available to the employer; and - (b) shortly before the employee is assigned a new activity or exposed to a new hazard. - (3) The employer shall review the employee training program, and, if necessary, revise it - (a) at least every three years; - (b) whenever there is a change in conditions in respect of the hazards; and - (c) whenever new hazard information in respect of a hazard in the work place becomes available to the employer. - (4) Each time training is provided to an employee, the employee shall acknowledge in writing that they received it and the employer shall acknowledge in writing that they provided it. - (5) L'employeur veille à ce que toute personne désignée pour mettre en œuvre les mesures de prévention des risques liés à l'ergonomie ait reçu les consignes et la formation nécessaires. ## OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY, 2020 S-15.1 REG 10 - (c) vibration; - (d) mechanical compression; - (e) sustained or awkward postures; - (f) limitations on motion or action; - (g) other ergonomic stressors. - (2) An employer or contractor, in consultation with the committee, shall regularly review the activities at the place of employment that may cause or aggravate musculoskeletal injuries. - (3) If a risk of musculoskeletal injury is identified, an employer or contractor shall: - (a) inform each worker who may be at risk of developing musculoskeletal injury of that risk and of the signs and common symptoms of any musculoskeletal injury associated with that worker's work; and - (b) provide effective protection for each worker who may be at risk, which may include any of the following: - (i) providing equipment that is designed, constructed, positioned and maintained to reduce the harmful effects of an activity; - (ii) implementing appropriate work practices and procedures to reduce the harmful effects of an activity; - (iii) implementing work schedules that incorporate rest and recovery periods, changes in workload or other arrangements for alternating work to reduce the harmful effects of an activity. - (4) An employer or contractor shall ensure that workers who may be at risk of developing musculoskeletal injury are instructed in the safe performance of the worker's work, including the use of appropriate work practices and procedures, equipment and personal protective equipment. - (5) If a worker has symptoms of musculoskeletal injury, an employer or contractor shall: - (a) advise the worker to consult a physician or a health care professional who is registered or licensed pursuant to an Act to practise any of the healing arts; and - (b) promptly review the activities of that worker and of other workers doing similar tasks to identify any cause of the symptoms and to take corrective measures to avoid further injuries. 31 Dec 2020 c S-15.1 Reg 10 …
