Where employers elect, due to conditions specific to the site, to develop alternate means and methods that provide employee protection in accordance with Sec. 1926.753(c)(5) [Hoisting and Rigging], Sec. 1926.757(a)(4) [Structural Steel Assembly] or Sec. 1926.757(e)(4) [Open Web Steel Joists], a site-specific erection plan shall be developed by a qualified person and be available at the work site. Guidelines for establishing a site-specific erection plan are contained in Appendix A to this subpart. ## 1926.753-HOISTING AND RIGGING Scope/Application: This subpart sets forth requirements to protect employees from the hazards associated with steel erection activities involved in the construction, alteration, and/or repair of single and multi-story buildings, bridges, and other structures where steel erection occurs.
